The process of obtaining a sexual health test is drawn out and off-putting. 1. Calls can take over 45 minutes to get through. 2. Test kits are only given if the telephone agents deem it necessary- what happened to 'testing between partners, with or without symptoms' 3. Telephone staff are dismissive and rude 4. You're treated badly just for asking to be given an 'all round' test, rather than only testing for the 'common' sti's 5. Working on a 'symptoms only' testing method will leave many asymptomatic people unknowingly spreading STI's 6. No drop in clinics. Many people will opt to not test rather than have the continued wait and unwelcoming attitudes from the staff. This is a scary situation for sexually active people in Northamptonshire, as chances are, none are testing due to the above.

We spent an hour with [name removed], and it was such a breath of fresh air for my daughter, and myself. She treated us both with kindness, dignity and respect. The techniques [name removed] used to identify why my daughter had a panic attack at school were just perfect. We were given strategies to help cope with anxiety which we would never have thought of. I just wanted to say how much we both appreciated the experience and the positivity that Youthworks provides to young people and their families. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

[name removed] and her colleague were extremely patient and kind with our son during the assessment. She took the time to ring me before sending the assessment results to explain everything and was extremely compassionate and reassuring. She has responded to my emails and questions in a very timely fashion and provided me with information around how to support my lovely son going forward Thank you v much!

Only to reduce waiting times amd maybe more specialist intervention session at school but I’m a realist and know this is not possible given services are so stretched

Absolute shocking . My 1 year old has had 3 failed attempts to get blood from him to examine his liver function. The 4th time they finally get the bloods and send them off to be tested. They put the bloods in the wrong bottles and now have been thrown away!!!! Do you understand how stressful it is for a baby to have bloods taken let alone 3 failed attempts consisting of 3 needles each time! Total 12 needles to get 1 blood sample!!!!! I can’t bear the thought of having to do this again!!!! Someone needs to be held accountable????

Yes use your eyes for the correct bottle to take a blood sample

I have moved over the country and had access to multiple different sexual health check providers through the NHS. This one has been the most tedious as the user needs to call (and wait for maybe hours) to (hopefully) get though and make a telephone consultation (more time to set aside) before being able to finally get a sexual health check appointment. This process can take weeks and leave the user feeling panicked in the meantime as well as potentially leaving them more at risk when compared to doing home test kits which arrive within a day or a couple days. It is strange to me that those kits exist but just trying to get one of those testkits means having to go to Northampton during a workday because they aren't mailed for some reason, and you still need consultations first. Please, please do mail test kits as an option, even better if it's through a provider that lets you book it online.
